About

I’m an illustrator, lecturer and yoga teacher based in Cambridge, UK, working across live illustration, academic and research illustration, editorial, publishing and children’s media.

I create illustrations that make ideas visible and memorable, from capturing conversations and events in real time to translating complex research and academic subjects into accessible visual stories.

Live illustration is an increasingly important part of my practice. I draw at conferences, meetings, away days and other events, creating visual records.

I also organise drawing-based events for companies, designed to encourage creativity, team connection and a bit of fun. Sessions typically last 1.5-3 hours and can be tailored to complement a conference, away day or team event.

I work with researchers, academics, universities and publishers to develop illustrations for academic and research projects. I particularly enjoy finding visual ways to communicate complex ideas, processes and concepts to different audiences, whether for research publications, books, presentations or public engagement.

My publishing work has primarily focused on children’s books and apps, with notable projects including Hilma af Klint – Mapping the Invisible (Alfabeta, 2020; Thames & Hudson, 2022), Kids Yoga (2017), and My First Orchestra Book (Naxos Audio, 2014). I also create editorial illustrations, book covers and illustrations for academic texts and research.

Alongside my illustration practice, I am a Senior Lecturer and Interim Course Director on the MA Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University, where I teach across the MA in Children’s Book Illustration, MA Illustration, BA Illustration and the Pathway Course in Art and Design.

I have taught yoga for 18 years and offer a Yoga in the Office programme, with 45-minute classes designed for workplaces. www.kayoga.co.uk
